District 12 Update
Howdy
Folks,

Dateline New Orleans Saturday August 24
From Shay Grannan-Kuehner in New Orleans, LA.
This morning Jeff Perkins made his
triumphant ride into New Orleans! He rode 491 miles from Dallas-Fort Worth to
New Orleans, on a bicycle, to raise funds for the Birdwell Foundation that
supports veterans and military struggling with PTSD. What a great honor was to
meet him as he came riding into the convention center. Job well done my friend

Do you have a loved one who has suffered the ravaging effects of cancer or lost their battle to this dreaded disease? We have a great opportunity for you to honor or remember them while donating to the American Legion Auxiliary's Cancer Research program that provides scholarships to students fighting for a cure at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. For a $5 donation, we will put your loved ones name on a luminary to be lit at a special ceremony on February 17th at Unit 521 in Pasadena. This is an amazing annual evening with lots of love, some tears, and beautiful remembrances of loved ones. If you wish to donate, please send me $5 for each one via zelle, PayPal, check in the mail, etc and text or PM me your loved one's name(s). Be sure and say whether it is an honorarium or memorial. Thank you so much for helping us help others to end this cancer nightmare that affects us all.
Thank you!

Autumn's Hope benefit will be held on November 4 at Post 516 (after the convention), 6 pm to 12 am. Bring a stuffed animal to add to our growing collection. Autumn wants to take the bears to Cook Children's Hospital since she began her cancer fight there. A stuffed animal can bring a lot of comfort to a frightened, ill child. David and Chris are preparing a BBQ feast to help raise funds for Autumn's journey. $15 will get you a plate of 2 meats and all the fixings. There are so many amazing auction and raffle items. ALA has made a bouquet of gift cards (more that $100) that will be in the silent auction. The kids will have a chance to win prizes by choosing the Lucky Duck. This is an event for the entire family.
