What a wonderful time was had by all. Thank you to all who attended the Haltom City Memorial Day concert at American Legion Post 655, 2817 Carson Street, Haltom City, TX. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening. The skies cleared over Haltom City and we were blessed by all who attended. We handed out small American flags; poppies and bookmarks with "In Flanders Field" printed on them. We (my partner in crime, Gwendolyn "Wiki" Sessler, Unit 516) set up and worked our Membership table. We set out applications for the Legion; the Auxiliary; the Sons of the American Legion and the Riders. My Unit sister, Harriet Bressert, handed out bookmarks and poppies. Harriet was astonished by the number of people who don't know anything about the Poppy story. Me too! We have got to get the word out. The music was wonderful. We had a standing ovation to "God Bless America" and flags were swaying across the aisles to the chords of patriotic music. Everything was right with the world (or at least Haltom City) as we bid everyone a safe drive home and a last call before the music ends.
