Vaya Con Dios to the 90th Aviation Support Battalion
August 5, 2014
Jeanne Hyder, Family Readiness Officer for the 90th Aviation Support Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, reported at the Joint Communications Circle meeting yesterday, August 5th, at NAS Fort Worth JRB, that 300 soldiers from the 90th Aviation Support Battalion were in the air on their way to Kuwait where they will be stationed until next May. The battalion, under the lead of Jeanne’s husband, Col. Lee Hyder, deployed out of Fort Worth on June 14, 2014, to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, for training in advance of yesterday’s deployment to Kuwait. Jeanne said that the pocket flags supplied by Auxiliary Units 626 and 297 were very well received.
The departure ceremony, which was held on June 14th in Fort Worth, allowed the families of the soldiers a chance for final goodbyes and the opportunity to give a proper send-off. They also packed the colors of the battalion for transport overseas.
The deployment comes as the United States is stepping up involvement in Iraq, with an extremist group, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, seizing a large section of northern Iraq after taking much of northeastern Syria.
Please keep all the soldiers and families of the 90th Aviation Support Battalion in your prayers. Godspeed and come back to us safe and sound.
